Essential Functions:
- Evaluate dog behavior, reactions, and interaction with other dogs to complete the initial dog screening evaluations, also called “interviews.”
- Monitor dog behavior.
- Feed dogs and administer medications as directed (only certain senior positions).
- Maintain continuous focus and attention on dog interactions to prevent fights/altercations and injuries.
- Observe and learn dog behavior and signs of aggression in order to appropriately assign dogs to the proper play yards.
- Perform dog health evaluations throughout the day.
- Clean play yards, cabins, and all common spaces: mopping, sweeping, and scrubbing.
- Clean up after the dogs, including poop scooping and pee mopping.
- Perform janitorial duties: restocking supplies, taking out trash, and basic kennel maintenance.
- Perform dog washes, nail trims, and other basic grooming tasks.
- Report to Leads and Managers of any problems
- Ensure campers are happy and healthy.
- Engage campers in play and divide attention among all campers.
- Performing great customer service to clients.
- Providing water and room service to every dog daily.
- Escort dogs to/from cabins, yards, lobby appropriately.
- Attend additional training as management deems necessary.
Requirements/ Expectations:
- Must love dogs (of all breeds and sizes)
- No previous dog experience necessary, but is helpful and preferred.
- Counselors spend almost all day on their feet. This position is a physically-intensive job requiring lifting, bending, carrying, and repetitive motions, cleaning (scrubbing walls, fences, cabins, etc.).
- Must be able to physically handle all sizes of the dogs we take at Camp Bow Wow.
- Must have a high tolerance for barking and excessive noise.
- Periodic exposure to jumping dogs and dog altercations.
- Must have a high tolerance for dog hair, dander, and smell.
- High school experience or equivalent.
- Reliable transportation.
