Senior Cost Accountant

Position Summary

The Senior Cost Accountant will collect and analyze complex financial information related to expenses, seeking ways to improve the accuracy of budgets and forecasts and to decrease the cost of departments and projects.

Key Accountabilities

Financial Reporting

• Prepare and review month-end journal entries

• Review inventory-related reconciliations

• Conduct inventory variance analysis

• Complete inventory and manufacturing controls

• Lead audit request submissions for inventory testing

Product Cost Accuracy

• Manage cost roll execution and communication

• Perform detailed cost analysis and standardize review processes

• Evaluate labor and overhead rates across multiple sites

• Review BOMs, routers, overhead rates, throughput, and raw material prices

• Prepare product costing and profitability analysis

Inventory Management

• Use analytics to support healthy inventory levels

• Analyze inventory turns and identify improvement opportunities

• Lead physical inventory counts and analysis

Reporting & Analytics

• Explain manufacturing variances in monthly P&L

• Develop labor utilization and productivity metrics

• Monitor variable costs against volume trends

• Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis

Finance Support

• Develop KPIs and dashboards for cost trend visibility

• Partner with supply chain on cost tracking

• Support freight analysis and forecasting

• Maintain internal capex tracking and forecasting

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required; Finance or Accounting

• 5+ years of cost accounting experience

• Skilled in handling large datasets and analytics

• Advanced Excel and BI skills preferred

Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $125,000.00 per year
