About Us:

Guided by the Agencys mission "To reduce recidivism among those we touch," the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking for a dedicated security minded professional to assume the responsibilities of a Parole Program Specialist within the Bureau of Community Sanctions. Headquarters will be determined based on applicant selected. **Please note there are two vacancies, but only one application required.

What Youll Do:Job Duties: *Reviews files of offenders being released from institution to verify release dates and refer placement to appropriate halfway houses*Resolves or clarifies issues/problems by obtaining additional information from institution staff regarding medical/mental health needs of inmates for halfway house staff*Identifies community resources available to special client groups and coordinates release of inmates to halfway houses*Maintains personal contact with criminal justice authorities and/or other sources to explain and interpret policy, rules, and regulations*Develops and disseminates materials regarding statewide community resources*Answers inquiries from department employees and general public*Reviews grant applications to ensure fiscal and program integrity*Reviews and evaluates budget revisions according to grant guidelines.*Participates in Bureau of Community Sanctions program audits/coaching sessions and on committees and attends meetings, conferences, and other training sessions*Coordinates and provides training in institution, APA field offices and contracted halfway houses, as requested regarding Community Residential Services programs*Responds in writing to letters received from offenders or individuals in community regarding placement investigations*May be required to have own transportation*Must be able to drive long distances within State*Sometimes travels include over-night stays*Performs other related duties as required*Prepares statistical reports for Assistant Chief and others providing information regarding resource management of contracted placements*Enters and tracks placements through Community Residential Services databases*Reviews invoices submitted by contracted halfway house agencies*Assists with budget preparation; represents agency or specialty area at meetings or through committee participation for purposes of solidifying effective program implementation and communication*Prepares, reviews and/or oversees preparation of publications, reports, or other work-related documentation*Maintains data regarding programs and statewide community residential trends*Attends meetings, trainings, and conferences*May give presentations and conduct training*Responds both verbally and in writing to questions and concerns*Works on special projects and/or committees as assigned*Performs other duties as assigned

6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Drivers license.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Drivers license.

-Or completion of graduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in correction/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Drivers license.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Senior Parole Officer, 69812; valid Ohio Drivers license.

-Or 24 mos. exp. as Parole Officer, 69810 or 69811; valid Ohio Drivers license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
