The office includes leading lawyers with extensive government and private sector experience, whose practices include transactional work, regulatory compliance matters and litigation in areas including, among others, insurance recovery, fund finance, IP/trademark, energy, environment, investment management, government contracts and international trade. The offices high-profile location is near Farragut Square Park, a hub of downtown D.C. that is at the center of a bustling daytime commercial and business district. The neighborhood, known for its vibrant atmosphere, includes major hotels, legal, professional and news media offices, a variety of restaurants and significant cultural attractions. This non-exempt employee is responsible for creation and revisions of various types of legal documents including charts and tables for all sections of law. Essential Duties
  • Create and revise legal documents based upon client requirements using applicable software.
  • Transcribe digital files.
  • Convert documents to/from different file formats and clean and fully format documents using document automation tools.
  • Use various types of document comparison software to generate redlines
  • Create spreadsheets, charts, graphs, mail merges, tables, presentations, fillable forms and other documents as requested.
  • Handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information.
  • Complete administrative tasks and assignments as requested by attorneys and staff members.
  • Assists with requests from all company offices.
Reporting Relationship The Document Specialist reports directly to the Director of Administration. Qualifications Knowledge/Experience The Document Specialist must have a working knowledge and understanding of legal documents and terminology and legal timekeeping. The Document Specialist must have a minimum of three years of experience in a legal document production environment. Advanced knowledge of MS Word, including formatting documents with styles, and generating Table of Contents and Table of Authorities is required. Skills The Document Specialist must type at least 90 wpm; must be flexible, service oriented; able to work under pressure in a fast-paced, team environment and have a willingness to learn software packages supported by the Firm. They must have advanced MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint skills. Experience The Document Specialist must have a minimum of three years of experience in a legal document production environment. Advanced knowledge of MS Word, including formatting documents with Styles, and generating Table of Contents and Table of Authorities is required. Physical Demands Must be able to move around the office up to 15% of the time to make copies, fax, file, etc.; Remains stationary at least 75% of the time. This position constantly operates computers and other office productivity machines (e.g., fax machine, copier, printer, etc.). Occasionally required to move documents or files weighing up to 15 lbs. This position requires constant communication and exchange of information with the Firm attorneys, clients and staff. This position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time. Working Conditions Office environment
