External Communications Manager, Search

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience in communications within the technology industry or in a corporate environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working with the press or social media.
• Experience communicating directly to audiences on social and owned platforms.
• Experience working with executive leaders and developing their external presence across traditional and new media channels.
• Track record of turning complex technical information into compelling stories across many audiences.
• Familiarity with data-driven storytelling.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

The Search communications team is responsible for telling the story of Searchs next chapter in the age of AI - from the products we launch, to the trust we build with our users, to how we showcase our business momentum. This role is a unique and exciting opportunity to leverage data insights to highlight new and interesting trends in Search across a range of audiences, from media to customers to consumers.

As a Communications Manager, you will lead the effort to leverage data-insights and user trends to showcase the way people search for information. You will be part of a team focused on thought leadership and highlighting momentum for Search, and you will guide a data-driven storytelling across many audiences including business and tech press, social media, Googles customers and partners, and our users. You will work closely with Googles data science teams to identify important metrics and trends, and you will partner with other teams within communications to support moments like quarterly earnings calls and launch events. This is an external-facing role that requires proactive outreach and managing inbound press inquiries.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $134,000-$196,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Use data and other insights to highlight evolving trends in Search during an exciting new chapter for the company.
• Partner with Googles Data Science teams and build a proactive program around releasing claims and insights to illustrate how Search is transforming and how user behavior is shifting with new product capabilities such as AI Mode, AI Overviews, Circle to Search and Lens.
• Develop and support metrics that help people understand Search during go-to-market moments like Google I/O.
• Use social media to drive proactive data-insights and rapid-response programs.
• Build media relationships as a go-to source for data and claims from Google.
