Position Summary

The assistant director provides coordination and leadership to Services for Students with Children with organizational stewardship of the Resource Center for Students with Children and the Childcare Support Fund as it relates to program assessment, event planning, and outreach communication. This position oversees the strategy to maintain and enhance an environment in which students with children see themselves reflected, embraced, and valued. The assistant director supports student retention by connecting students to campus and community services or resources and by maintaining current knowledge of campus policies to advance the mission of Services for Students with Children. The assistant director is a key member of the departments leadership team. In collaboration with the director, staff, and stakeholders, the AD works to design strategies to address systemic issues facing students with children and build departmental culture and norms.

This position operates with minimal supervision and requires a high degree of flexibility and adaptivity as tasks are often complex, varied, and unpredictable. The position reports to the director of Services for Students with Children and may serve as acting director when the director is unavailable. This is a full-time, represented position.

Successful completion of a background check is required. Occasional after-hours and weekend hours are also required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree with 2+ years of professional experience within functional area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree

Work Days/Hours M-F 8 AM to 5 PM Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be $56,880 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
