STATEMENT OF DUTIESSummary of Job Classification: Provides individual case management and coordination of family-related matters, including domestic relations, domestic violence, dependency, and neglect and delinquency cases before the courts.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTSThis position is primarily remote work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform assigned essential functions listed below satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Frequency and percentage of time may vary based on assignment.
Manages domestic case types, which can include Dependency and Neglect, Delinquency, Truancy, Adoption, and Relinquishment.
Conducts status conferences and assists parties with identification of disputed issues and options for resolution.
Liaises between the specialty court magistrate, court personnel, treatment providers, attorneys, and other members of the specialty team. Facilitates the exchange of necessary information and prepares cases for judicial officers. Assists parties and counsel in understanding court processes and policies.
Attends, participates, and manages subcommittees of Best Practice Court Team and other stakeholder meetings to assist with implementation of system and policy changes, new processes, and pilot projects.
Helps manage Truancy Docket and Specialty Court Youth Educational Support Services (YESS). Attends Truancy Advisement Court, engages with potential program participants, and connects families with assessment providers. Attends YESS docket monthly, staff cases, and program management meetings. Assists with docket development.
Participates in and coordinates trainings and meetings related to issues, policies, and procedures. Reviews and evaluates policies, practices, structure, functions, grants, programs, and resources within the juvenile system. Establishes response procedures designed to address internal and external requests for information.
Collects and interprets data. Reports on trends and makes recommendations to improve upon services. Identifies problems and implements solutions in conjunction with community stakeholders.
Attends meetings and training as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONT.Supervisor Responsibilities: Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees. The work performed by a majority of employees is complex.
Human Collaboration: Interactions may result in decisions regarding implementation of policies. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues or important presentations. Contacts may involve stressful, negative interactions with the public requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond to aggressive interpersonal interactions. Interactions have limited impact.
Freedom to Act & Impact of Actions: Receives Limited Direction Employee normally perform assignments according to your own judgment, requesting Supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically. Impact of actions are significant.
Knowledge & Skills: Advanced Work requires advanced skills and advanced & extensive knowledge of work. Incumbent can handle complex tasks and translate complex nuances related to aspects of the job. Recognized by others within organization for technical depth of knowledge. Likely impact on organization is standard.
Fiscal Responsibility: May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for functional area budget allocations. May monitor division or program/promotional level budget and expenditures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience Equivalency: Bachelors degree in the field of Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related field.
OR
Additional relevant work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education.
Work Related Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in social work, legal, or other related field.
Licenses and Certifications: None.
Physical Effort Requirements: Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Work Environment: Good-Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
Work Location: Office or similar indoor environment; confined space.
Exposures: Individuals who are hostile or irate; individuals with known violent backgrounds; communicable diseases.
