CT Job Description Description: CT Technologists utilize computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-section images of patients internal organs and tissues for the diagnosis of medical issues. A CT Technician must be able to accurately interpret a physicians scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment and position the patient to capture the appropriate images. CT scanners emit radiation, which can be harmful for the technologist so proper patient safety procedures should be performed. Objectives: The CT Technologists will assure that each patient receives the highest standards of patient care at all times and the best quality study possible. There should be self-motivation to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field. Duties Responsibilities: The technologist will operate computed tomography equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes under direction of physician. Explain procedure to patient, position and immobilize patient on exam table, have the ability to establish IV access for contrast administration and observe during scan. Monitor video display of area being scanned and adjust density or contrast to improve picture quality. Review and evaluate computer generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. Work with department information system and PACS system. The ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic work volumes is a must. It is expected that all duties and responsibilities of this position be carry out in a manner that reflects the values of Gulf Coast MRI Diagnostic. This includes helping other staff members and work flow where needed to create a team building atmosphere. Qualifications: Graduate of a two-year radiological technology program. Certificate, AAS , BS or MS in Radiologic Technology preferred. Required licensures include American Registry of Radiologic Technologists license in Radiography (ARRT-R) and Texas Department of Health Medical Radiologic Technologist General Certification (TDH-MRT, category G). There must be CPR certification through either the Red Cross or the American Heart Association. American Registry of Radiologic Technologist license in Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT) is a bonus. Minimum of one year experience as a registered Radiologic technologist is required. Previous CT experience is preferred.
