OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and maintaining medical records. This role is essential in facilitating the financial operations of our medical office while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Duties

  • Review and verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accuracy before billing.
  • Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10 to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve discrepancies, and appeal denied claims as necessary.
  • Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.

Experience

  • Proven experience in medical billing or a similar role within a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, DRG (Diagnosis Related Group), and coding practices is essential.
  • Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
