Primary Location US-IL-Northfield JOB SUMMARY

Oversee and manage the overall strategy and execution of the sales training function and all training programs for Medline Sales Representatives.

Accountable for the effective development and delivery of all phases of Sales Training: Needs Analysis, Course Development, Delivery, Effectiveness, Administration.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute the overall sales training strategy based on a clear understanding of each business’ goals and priorities.

Oversee the development and execution learning and development strategy and roadmap that supports organizational goals and growth.

Develop a recommended training pathway and achieve sales leadership alignment to a unified program for execution driven from clear training objectives and deliverables, based on business needs and not just execution of various sales leadership requests.


Sales Training Champion

Ensure the Sales Training team functions as a critical part of each sales leadership team, actively building the relationships that enable them to participate as a part of ongoing business discussions and business management.

Maximize the execution volume and production of optimal training tactics by leveraging the internal training team, external resources, partnership with HR Learning & Development resources, and the utilization of subject matter experts (within sales teams, product divisions, sales marketing, etc).

Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in learning and development to continuously grow and enrich learning programs.


Needs Assessment

Collaborate with business and sales senior leadership to understand needs and design learning programs that address skill gaps and support talent development.

Ensure Training teams assess training needs through surveys, interviews, and consultations with managers, and design training programs to address needs of organization.


Training Development & Delivery

Lead the development, coordination and presentation of all training and development programs for Sales employees.

Oversee the design and implementation of all activity supporting new Sales Rep onboarding, field sales training programs, and ongoing learning plan development for all Sales Representatives.

In partnership with Human Resources and Sales Leadership, lead and manage the field training program for the on-boarding, coaching and development of new sales reps during their first 12 months.


Sales Training Effectiveness

Establish performance metrics and tracking that validate the effectiveness of training programs.

Ensure partnership with sales leaders to measure effectiveness of learning programs through metrics, feedback, assessments, and adjust as necessary.


Administration

Oversee team negotiation of contracts and management of logistics execution for outside vendors, hotels, transportation, and food required for sales training sessions.

Accountable for appropriate management and delivery of training resources and budgets.


Culture/Environment

Facilitate, coordinate and promote cooperative cross-functional planning and teamwork.

Create processes and tactics that drive the company to achieve its overall business objectives.

Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.


Management Responsibility

Lead (organize, plan, direct, staff, coordinate, and communicate) the division’s management team and staff to execute the business plan, as well as changes to operations needed to meet company-specific goals.

Provide guidance and direction to subordinate leaders, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.

Direct human resources activities, including the approval of human resource plans or activities, the selection of directors or other high-level staff, or establishment or organization of major departments.





MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education


Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or related field.

Work Experience


At least 10 years of overall sales training and development experience (or equivalent management experience) in a business/corporate setting demonstrating experience designing, implementing and delivering programs and prepared content tied to business strategy to various audience levels within an organization.

Demonstrated success of establishing and executing learning and development roadmaps with a focus on adult based learning principles in a dynamic environment.

At least 5 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


Experience developing learning programs, instructional design, and thought leadership while driving measurable results through best-in-class learning and development programs.

Understanding of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and various learning technologies.

Knowledge of Instructional Design principles and development applications, e.g., e-learning software, image and media editing software, etc.

Knowledge of consulting on learning practices including needs analysis, skill and performance assessments, organizational interventions, facilitation, and the design and delivery of content for various audiences.

Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.

Experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with senior level executives.

Interpersonal skills; ability to build alliances with leadership and key partners to gain commitment and implement performance solutions.

Ability to work across multiple strategic business units and functional groups (e.g. IS, Retail Marketing, Finance, Sales, etc.) to influence others without direct authority.

Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Position requires travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).


PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree in Communications or Instructional Design.
